Privacy Policy

PlayStream M3U is a mobile application for playing multimedia playlists in M3U/M3U8 format. This Privacy Policy describes how the app handles user data, both in the free version and with the PRO plan.

1. Data collected

PlayStream M3U does not collect any personal data for profiling, marketing or analytics purposes. The app does not use Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics or similar SDKs, does not integrate advertising SDKs, does not use tracking cookies or fingerprinting.

The only exception is the optional web portal sync feature described in section 8: only if the user chooses to use it, the backend receives an anonymous device code + playlist URL and the IP address for anti-abuse purposes.

2. Data stored locally

The app stores the following data exclusively on the user's device:

• M3U/M3U8 playlists added by the user (URL or file)
• Credentials for accounts compatible with the standard remote playlist management protocol (stored locally only)
• User preferences (theme, EPG window, selected EPG sources)
• The list of channels and programs of the program guide (EPG) downloaded
• The list of channels, movies and series marked as favorites
• The status of any PRO purchase (local cache of the active plan)

All this data remains on the device and is deleted when the app is uninstalled.

3. Network connections

The app makes network requests only to servers chosen by the user:

• M3U/M3U8 servers specified by the user
• Program guide (XMLTV) servers specified by the user or selected from the default per-country list
• Image URLs (channel logos, movie/series posters) included in the playlists or returned by the servers

The developer does not receive or process any of this information. Connections occur directly from the user's device to the destination server.

4. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

The app offers the following In-App purchases to unlock PRO features:

• PRO Monthly — auto-renewing subscription with a 7-day free trial
• PRO Yearly — auto-renewing subscription with yearly billing
• PRO Lifetime — one-time purchase, no renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, unless explicitly cancelled at least 24 hours before expiration from your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Payment is charged to the user account at purchase confirmation. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited at the time of purchase of a subscription.

Purchase transactions take place entirely within Apple's (App Store) or Google's (Play Store) ecosystem. PlayStream M3U does not handle payment data and does not receive the user's financial information. The developer receives only the anonymous confirmation of the completed purchase to unlock features.

To manage or cancel an active subscription:

• iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → PlayStream PRO
• Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions

5. Third-party content

PlayStream M3U is a neutral player. The app does not provide, distribute or promote multimedia content. It is the user's sole responsibility to load playlists of content for which they hold the rights to access and view, in compliance with the laws in force in their country.

6. User rights (GDPR)

Users who have used the optional sync portal (see section 8) are entitled, pursuant to EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), to:

• Access: request a copy of the data associated with their device code
• Rectification: update playlist / EPG URLs (also directly from the portal)
• Erasure: request the immediate deletion of all data associated with the code
• Portability: receive the data in a readable format
• Objection: stop using the portal → no further data will be collected

Requests should be sent to info@playstream-m3u.eu indicating the device code. Reply within 30 days as required by GDPR.

Users who have not used the portal have no personal data on the developer's servers: all data stays on the device and is deleted upon uninstallation.

7. Security

Local data is protected by iOS/Android operating system sandboxing. The developer recommends keeping your device up to date and protecting device access with passcode/biometrics.

8. Playlist sync via web portal (opt-in)

The app includes the ability to load playlists from the web through the portal playstream-m3u.eu/en/connect. This service is opt-in: it is used only if the user chooses to enter the device code on the portal to load a playlist. If the user does not use the portal, no data is transmitted to the backend.

When the service is used, the developer stores in its own backend the following data strictly necessary for operation:

• Anonymous device code (e.g. AB12-CD34): randomly generated by the app, not linked to the user's identity
• URL of the M3U/M3U8 playlist and any program guide (EPG) loaded by the user on the portal
• IP address of the device at the time of code registration and playlist upload: used solely to prevent abuse (rate limiting, anti-spam) and automated bots
• Timestamps of registration, upload and last access

The following data is NOT collected: name, surname, email, phone number, device identifiers (IMEI, UUID), precise geolocation data, tracking cookies, browser fingerprinting.

Retention: data associated with the device code is kept as long as the code is active. Codes registered without any playlist loaded are automatically deleted after 30 days. The user can request the immediate deletion of all data associated with their code by writing to info@playstream-m3u.eu and indicating the device code.

The backend is hosted with a provider with servers in the European Union. No data is transferred to non-EU countries or shared with third parties.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

Any updates to this Privacy Policy will be published on this page with the last updated date shown at the top. Users are encouraged to check the page periodically to be informed of any changes.
